The large corps of trained interviewers (120 persons) is available for face-to-face or telephone interviewing on a statewide, regional or local basis. With this highly skilled staff the CSS is equipped to efficiently handle all phases of opinion and market surveys.

The CSS has its representatives in almost all subjects of the Russian Federation (Republics, oblasts, krays).

The CSS`s studies embrace a wide range of fundamental and applied public opinion research. The Center investigates the most important processes in social, political, economic and cultural life of the society. The priorities, however, are given to the following fields: public opinion, mass consciousness, international and ethnic relations, higher education, social problems of the youth, professional quality evaluation.

The CSS has a fully equipped in-home data processing facility, including high-performance computer system with extensive database, audio and video devices, which are operated by professional personnel.

Having accumulated the extensive potential, the CSS shares its experience with other sociological censers. The researchers of the Center are the authors of numerous publications. The series of methodical and teaching materials were published, special seminars and courses for students and specialists were organized at the University. There are special training programs for sociologists who seek the opportunity to master their professional skills. The CSS researchers actively participate in national and international seminars, conferences and symposia.

To collect reliable information the CSS uses wide range of recognized data gathering methods, i.e. telephone interviewing, personal interviewing, questionnaire collecting, mail surveys, document analysis, focus groups, experts interviewing etc.

The surveys are held on the basis of all-Russia's or regional probability samples. The Center conducts studies, with all types of population groups (general public, special segments of the public) according to the required units of sample, e.g. enterprise, family, etc.

The computer archives of the CSS contain the information of more than a hundred surveys conducted by its staff members. These data can be used by specialists, teachers, students, etc. for further studies and professional purposes. The information is also available for consumer and industrial companies, advertising agencies, etc. It may be helpful for market research and other surveys.
